Human sex trafficking is the illegal recruitment, harboring, trade, or transportation of individuals from one area to another, for purposes of commercial sexual exploitation. Within the United States the largest portion of these individuals are girls under the age of 18. Traffickers use tactics of force, fraud, or coercion to lure victims into sexual activity with a third party in exchange for anything of value, or the promise thereof. Once these victims have been trafficked, it is not only difficult but dangerous to assist them with leaving the life.
